Salary Negotiation Guide Reveals Social Media Effect Between Bosses and Their Employees

Let's face it. In the business and corporate world, the customary practice of ethical distance has always been part of the internal code of conduct. As a matter of integrity, you have to behave in a manner that is above suspicion and beyond reproach. Too much familiarity is discouraged. You don't mix business with pleasure, and the personal has no effect on the professional.

However, with technology racing at top speed and communication zooming alongside it, the concept of distance has changed. Business has turned to e-commerce. Through the worldwide web, bosses and employees alike now connect in real time and we even interact on social media sites like Facebook and Twitter. Instead of going the distance to your boss's office, you can now exchange instant messages and tweets with just a few clicks on your computer in the privacy of your office or in the comfort of your home.
Does this really mean that you are only a few clicks away from getting your job promotion or your salary increase? Can you work on it in your pyjamas at home? Can you do the shortcuts and fast-track your way into these goals by inviting your boss to be your Facebook friend?

When you're looking forward to moving ahead in your career or finding a new job, then personal connections via Facebook can become one of your major assets.

The more successful you are in connecting, interacting, and socializing with all kinds of people, the more your boss will perceive you as someone who can manage employees at all levels. The more your boss knows that you haven't been corrupted by all the tempting offers and unscrupulous practices on the web, the more your boss will understand how credible you are and how well you fit into the job.

In the end, just make sure of two things. If you have been made the exception as a Facebook friend, see to it that you are just as exceptional in your work such that no one can be snide about it. Another is to make sure that when it comes to business, you share something more in common with your boss than being Facebook friends.

How to Get a Highly Paid Nursing Assistant Salary

While there is unfortunately not a list of higher paying nursing assistant salary jobs for you to aspire to, there are several options available to you to gain the most out of your CNA employment. These options are detailed below.

Obtain Your CNA II

Obtaining your CNA II will give you a bump in nursing assistant salary by as much as an extra dollar per hour or more depending on your facility. While this may not sound like much, over the years as a CNA employee it will add up. Plus if you add this to more certifications like Basic Life Support certification and a Certified Nursing Administration course. These will aid you in getting higher pay or promotions within the CNA field of employment. Phlebotomy training to give you extra certification and experience. However, if you become a phlebotomist full-time although the average wage is higher as a phlebotomist than a CNA. You will lose your extra shifts, double shifts, night shift and weekend work that you will get with CNA employment which pushes your pay higher than that of a phlebotomist.

You need to keep in mind before you attend an interview that you can negotiate a higher starting CNA salary if you have experience/qualifications in an area with serious nursing assistant shortages. So doing a little homework on the shortage in your area can pay dividends in your negotiations in your starting nursing assistant salary. You obviously will not mention the shortages at the interview, you just keep it in mind when negotiating your starting nursing assistant salary with the employer.

Generally speaking the higher paid certified nursing assistant jobs will be those in a hospital, in a major city or urban area. And the highest pay will be in the specialized units that require extra training such as emergency room, intensive care ward etc.

Get a higher nursing assistant salary by working for an agency

If you are prepared to travel between jobs and can handle the temporary nature of a contract offered by a nursing agency, then a much higher nursing assistant salary can be achieved. Then agencies like ARC healthcare or Medical Staffing Network to name just two of the many agencies across the country can offer you these higher paying certified nursing assistant temporary jobs. Then they will usually place you at a medical facility that requires nursing assistants at a short notice. The pay will be higher than say a long term contract in a nursing home, but you will not have the reassurance of long term employment.

These companies/medical facilities that need staff in a pinch and recruit through an agency often have double shift options. Which will usually have a bonus on top for the inconvenience. Also in a lot of these temporary roles your traveling expenses will be covered if they are in remote locations.

Agency certified nurse assistant salary is usually much higher than the average at around $15 - $20 per hour, whereas for the same job in hospital may only pay you between $9 and $12 depending on experience, location and medical facility. You need to bear in mind though that these agencies often do not include medical insurance as part of their contract terms. You should also know that in order to get on these agencies books you will need a minimum of 6 months CNA experience, with many requiring 1 years experience at least before they can offer to find employment through their agency.

Private duty cases obtained through these agencies often provide much higher CNA pay than the norm. You will find a website called healthcareerweb.com often provides private duty case jobs on their website.

You could also consider studying for a nursing degree which will open many more opportunities for advancement in the nursing profession which includes much higher pay. Some of the top nursing jobs like Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNA), earn on average $100k per year and often much more. Now obviously for this level of nursing pay there will be several years of hard studying to do, but the rewards can be well worth it in the end.

Hopefully this has given you a few pointers in getting the most out of a nursing assistant salary that you are looking for as you journey through your medical career.

Top Four Factors That Drive Medical Assistant's Salary

Many are enticed to be part of the medical assisting team because this career offers a promising future and advancing career opportunities. As for others, they choose to become MAs because it provides personal and monetary satisfaction. Personal satisfaction since they are responsible for a wide range of hospital tasks and being able to accomplish those different roles is already very pleasing to one self. Monetary satisfaction as well since this profession is offering good salary benefits and a possible salary increase if the employer sees that the staff is dedicated, passionate and simply because the employee qualifies to the standards set by the organization concerning salary adjustments. Truly, this is a profitable career. But, what are the factors that drive the MA's salary? Curious? Following are aspects that can influence the salary and compensation benefits of medical assistants.

Employee's Skills
Just like in other profession, if a person is highly skilled in the craft and the employer sees potential for growth, without doubt that person will receive higher pay as compared to others whose skills are average. Although it is not compulsory for aspiring MAs to undergo formal training as the minimum requirement for a person to get the job is just a high school diploma or a GED equivalent. However skills are learned and those who wish to become proficient can enroll in qualified schools for proper training and grounding.

Moreover, since the demand for medical assistants is increasing and so are their roles and responsibilities, those who are found to be proficient can garner up to $40,000. Not only are they qualified for increase, they can also be promoted to managerial or supervisory roles.

Licensing
After completion of the training program, he or she can take the next step and that is certification. Being certified can provide a great edge not just in the hiring process but it can also provide excellent salary range.

Work Place Setting
MAs can choose to work in special areas, outpatient departments, schools and conventional hospitals. More of often than not, those who are employed in hospital receive higher compensation and benefits. On average, medical assistants receive $30,000 in these institutions. On the other hand, those working in special areas like private physician's clinic, outpatient departments, schools, colleges and universities can earn about $28,000.

State Of Practice
Another factor that drives the salary of MAs is the location or state the medical assistant is currently practicing. Apparently, the cost of living varies in different states. In large urbanized areas, expect to have a higher cost of living index. Thus the salary and benefits in these areas are competitive as well. Presently, the three top states that provide excellent payouts to medical assistants are District of Columbia, Alaska and Massachusetts. In these areas, medical assistants can earn from $34,490 to $38,000. On the other hand, rural areas can provide lower compensation benefits because the cost of living is lower in these areas.

Then again, areas that are offering lower payouts are Mississippi, West Virginia and South Dakota. Medical assistants who are employed in these areas can receive salaries from $22,510 to $25,310.

MA is truly a lucrative and very promising career. That is why many students are attracted to take up medical assisting courses to equip them and make them proficient in their chosen profession. However, when choosing a career to pursue, remember that salary is not the only thing that should be given consideration. Passion and enthusiasm must be regarded as well.

Salary Requirement Question - 4 Ways to Answer

The "what is your salary requirement" question is always a tricky and awkward one to answer. The best way to keep it to your advantage is to avoid answering it tactfully for as long as possible. I recommend the following four strategies in addressing the salary requirement question.
Try your best to not provide any numbers - because you want to avoid either being too high or underselling yourself. Most recruiter friends always tell me "don't be the first to draw blood."
Re-focus the discussion on how the company reward above average performers, whether this company is the best fit, etc... This signals to the company that you believe you will be a top performer and that you can more about this role than just compensation.
Re-direct the question back to find out what the salary range is for this position? Therefore, making them show their cards first. This is always a great way to deflect this question as well as find out if what they had in mind fits within what you expected. If it does, you can respond vaguely and say "let's focus on whether I am a good fit first and then hopefully we can talk about the right compensation based on my experience and skill sets."
Tell them you are excited about the company - this subtly negotiates on your behalf, and if the company likes you and they don't know your salary requirement, they may make you a salary offer on the higher end to make sure they can secure a positive response from you.

Here are some examples of salary requirement answers that have worked for me or my clients.
"Salary is only part of the picture. My number priority is finding the best fit for my career. I am very excited about this opportunity. I think I can be a valuable addition to this company. What is the salary range that the company is looking at for this position?"
"San Francisco is an expensive city to live in so starting salary is important, but what is also important to me is how this company rewards high performers. What is the bonus structure? How will compensation progress in a year or two?"
If pressed to provide a number, then try this "I hate to overshoot and be disqualified for this position, but if you need to know then the minimum I would accept for an ideal position is... "

This last one give you room to negotiate since rarely is any job ideal. Surprisingly the first two answers above usually work to deflect this question without providing a number. Thanks.

Good luck out there! I am always in your corner.

Highest Paid X-Ray Technician Salary by Region

The health care industry continues to expand and grow due to the increased number of aging patients. Over the next ten years, hospitals and clinics are expected to increase in number by nearly 20%. Due to the projected expansion, highly specialized fields of medicine and patient care are becoming more and more prevalent.

The pay scale is following along the same line as growth by steadily increasing. X-ray technicians once started out earning $30,000-$40,000 per approximately five to ten years ago and today are earning well over $60,000 on average per year.

Earnings vary by state and region. Some of the highest paying states for x-ray technicians are Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts and Nevada. Some of the states offer a high cost of living as well as high earning potential. Hawaii is one of the highest paying states for x-ray technicians at nearly $80,000 annually for mid-level employment in the field.

By region, the salaries for x-ray techs can be categorized with the following:

· West Coast

Along the west coast, northern California cities such as San Francisco, San Jose, Oakland and Fremont offer their x-ray technicians somewhere in the neighborhood of $72,000 per year. The area is one of the highest paid regions for x-ray professionals. The numbers can be a bit misconstrued due to the high cost of living required in the area. However, the earnings rate is higher than the national average.

· East Coast

Along the east coast, cities such as Boston, New York City, Peabody, and Quincy offer some of the highest paid positions in the field of x-ray technology. X-ray techs earn more than $70,000 each year which is well above the national average for the field. Many specialty sub-fields are available which provide top earning positions.

· Hawaii

Although not considered a region, Hawaii is as far west as one can get when examining salaries in the United States. X-ray techs earn on average $80,000 per year. Some x-ray techs who have been employed for over ten years earn well above six figures. Most top earners in the region have at a minimum their bachelor's degree while some of the highest paid x-ray technicians possess their master's degree. While the cost of living is extremely high in Hawaii, the average pay for x-ray technicians is well above the national average.

The National Average Salary for X-Ray Technicians

The national average pay for x-ray technicians is approximately $55,000 per year, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2009. The pay scale fluctuates by region and state with the lowest paying regions offering $35,000 per year for entry level positions and the highest paid states offering $70,000.

Location, work setting and advancement are the main criteria affecting the national average in terms of pay for x-ray techs. Higher costs of living seem to determine the rate of pay for this position. Depending on what type of industry and work environment also causes the pay scale to fluctuate. More and more positions are opening up outside of hospitals and medical clinics that offer advancement and pay increases.
